Parachute cord, commonly referred to as paracord, was originally used as suspension line for US parachutes during World War II. It is a lightweight kernmantle rope with many useful applications. This particular type of paracord, called 550 cord, has minimum break strength of 550 lbs.
Currently paracord is used in both military and civilian applications. Some of the more popular uses of paracord are survival bracelets, boot laces, key chains, weapon handles, belts, dog leashes, and much more.
Paracord Planet's 550 paracord is a commercial grade version of military grade paracord and offers all the same benefits as the military version. It includes seven inner strands that are composed of two even smaller strands, and a woven outer sheath.
